For the swim team last summer, I set up four big 64 oz. clear sports mug (the kind with a screw off squirt top) and put a picture of each of the swim coaches on a bottle. At practices and meets, we'd put the bottles out and kids could drop in their loose change. The coach with the most money in his or her jar at the end of the season got a pie in the face and/or was thrown in the pool while wearing street clothes. I even put up a foam board sign behind it that had though bubbles coming up from each coach's picture saying things like, "Vote for David, you know he made you do those extra laps" or "Sarah is meaner. She deserves to be dunked!"

The kids raised over $100 dollars and there was no cost for supplies or effort on our part. All we did was screw on the lids at the end of practice so the change wouldn't spill and take them off again the next day. And because we had them out where the kids would be walking past them all the time, there wasn't too much of a risk of someone taking money out of them. The way the jars were shaped, you couldn't put your hand into them, you had to turn them upside down, which would have been pretty conspicuous.

Plus it wasn't selling over-priced garbage to grandmas and neighbors. It was the kids supporting their own team with their own money. And nobody was pressuring them to do it. They wanted to see their least favorite coach get dunked.

That sounds like a great idea!!

Much better than selling 5.00 candy bars!

Much better, because all of it is profit. With the $5 candy bar you send most of it to someone else and what you end up with is the company getting rich because a grandma wants to support her grandson's team.
